Noongar Land Enterprise Group (NLE) held its 2026 Annual General Meeting and a Members Meeting last week at Avondale Park near Beverley, the property of NLE member Yaraguia Inc.
The two-day gathering provided an opportunity for NLE members to come together on Country, reflect on the year that has passed and look ahead to the opportunities and challenges facing the organisation and its growing membership.
A highlight of the AGM was the unanimous decision by members to welcome Yarramoup Aboriginal Corporation as NLE’s newest member.
Yarramoup Aboriginal Corporation (Noongar name for Jerramungup) was established in the early 1990’s and based in the Great Southern region of WA.
Yarramoup brings a 3,000-acre property in Wellstead and a strong interest in collaboration, caring for Country and developing sustainable enterprises, including opportunities in native plants and beekeeping.
During the meeting, Yarramoup representative Gordon Gray highlighted the importance of being part of a broader network, identifying greater “coordination and cooperation” as an important motivation for joining NLE.
NLE is delighted to welcome Yarramoup into its growing network of First Nations organisations working collectively to create environmental, cultural, social and economic outcomes across Noongar boodja.
The AGM also saw the election of the NLE Board for the coming year:

- Vice-Chairperson – Oral McGuire, Yaraguia Inc.
- Treasurer – Glenn Lothean, Winjan Aboriginal Corporation
- Peter Twigg, Gnowangerup Aboriginal Corporation
- Annie Shaw, Kwelena Mambakort Wedge Island Aboriginal Corporation (KMAC)
- Clint Hansen, Maaman Marra Boodjar
Alongside the formal AGM and members meeting, the gathering included a field day at Yaraguia Inc.'s Avondale Park property, providing members with an opportunity to connect informally and see some of the work being undertaken on Country.
The day began around a fire, with members sharing tea and coffee before being taken on a tour of the property led by Oral McGuire.
The tour showcased a number of Yaraguia's ongoing projects, including a landscape rehydration project being delivered in partnership with the Mulloon Institute, as well as Mr McGuire's long-term revegetation work, which has seen more than 600 hectares of the property returned to native bush.
Members also visited a native grasses trial, run by NLE and hosted at Avondale Park, providing an opportunity to learn more about the work being undertaken to explore native species and their potential applications in land management and restoration.
Across the two days, members shared updates on what is happening within their own organisations and discussed opportunities to work more effectively together. Conversations covered a broad range of areas including bushfoods and export development, Aboriginal Rangers, Boola Boornap, landscape rehydration, clean energy opportunities and strengthening collaboration across the NLE membership.
NLE CEO Alan Beattie said the gathering was an important opportunity for members to connect, share ideas and consider how the collective can continue to grow.
“There is plenty of work ahead, but also enormous opportunity.”
NLE extends a big thank you to Yaraguia Inc. and Oral McGuire for hosting members on Country at Avondale Park, and to all NLE members for the energy, ideas and commitment they continue to bring to the organisation.
The AGM and field day highlighted the strength of NLE's growing membership and the value of bringing First Nations organisations together to share knowledge, support one another and identify opportunities for collaboration.
